Where is the project at?

Confidential

What you share stays with us.

Plans, budgets and ideas you share with Finlay are seen by Dean and Grant at Rough, and nobody else. We never share a project's details, and Finlay never talks about anyone else's job, their venue or what they spent.

How it works

A ballpark, not a quote.

Finlay works from Rough's own fee scale and our build cost data for hospitality projects in Scotland: the same numbers we use in the studio. Early on the build range is wide; measured plans, a survey or a contractor's price narrow it.

Our design fee is a percentage of the build that comes down as projects get bigger, with brand, menus and websites priced as packages. Every figure is ex VAT, and expenses are charged at cost.

Finlay is an AI, so treat his numbers as a starting point. Dean or Grant confirm the real number once they have looked at your project properly.

Your details

How we handle your details.

Who we are. Rough Studio Ltd (Rough), 38 Buccleuch Street, Edinburgh EH8 9LP. Contact hey@rough.ink about anything on this page.

What we keep. Your name, email, town or city and where your project is at; your conversation with Finlay; the plans and photos you upload; and a scrambled version of your internet address, used only to stop the form being abused.

Why. To estimate your project and reply to you, with your agreement when you tick the box. We do not use it for marketing, and we never sell or share it.

Who helps. Your details and files are stored in London with Supabase. Finlay's replies are written by Google's Gemini model, which processes the conversation to answer you; on the paid service we use, Google does not use it to train its models. The six-digit code is sent through Brevo.

How long. If you do not send your project to us, your details, conversation and files are deleted after 90 days (7 days if you never use the code). If you send it, it becomes an enquiry and we keep it as long as we need to for the project and our records.

Your rights. You can see, correct or delete what we hold. Delete my details (under the chat) removes it at once; for anything else, email hey@rough.ink. If you are unhappy with how we handle your details, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
