Nonna Said
Restaurant · Glasgow
An Italian neighbourhood restaurant on Candleriggs with full hospitality branding alongside the interior — menus, signage and identity built as one system with the space.
A neighbourhood Italian on Candleriggs, designed brand-first and let the interior follow. Identity, signage, web and menu graphics all built off the same hand-drawn system. The voice carries — knowing, warm, specific — across every touchpoint.
Brand-first approach: rather than designing the room and then commissioning a logo, we wrote the brand voice and visual language first. Hand-drawn wordmark with a long-form tagline (“Eat. Drink. Repeat. Nonna said so.”), illustrated menu artwork, and a colour-and-type system that reads as one piece on the shopfront, the menu, the website and the social tile.
The interior runs warmer than the cool slick-Italian default — booth banquettes, warm timber, soft signage hand-painted above the bar. Designed for table-turn but read as neighbourhood, not chain. Multi-site rollout-ready by structure; the brand framework adapts before each venue without losing the voice.
